. PERSONAL AND GENERAL. (From Our Own Correspondent.) MASTERTON, July 22. The Masterton Borough Council has decided not to contribute towards the oost of a Wairarapa court at the . Dunedin Exhibition. Mr W.' G. Lamb, chairman of the Wairarapa Rugby Union, has been appointed manager ! of the Wairarapa football team which is to, tour Marlborough, Nelson, and the West Coast. The death has occurred at Masterton of Mrs S. Gilmour, at ’the ago of 79 years. Deceased was horn in Ireland, and had resided for 65 years in \the Dominion, thirteen of which had been spent in Masterton. She leaves • two sons and two daughters. The Masterton Borough Council has decided to introduce the co-operative contract system of labour in connection with Lansdowne water and drainage reticulation schemes. The Martinborongh queen election, in aid of the High School funds, was won by Kitty Smith with 6306 votes, Marjorie Squires being second with 9661 votes._ A six-roomed dwelling at Kaiwaiwiai, occupied by Mr H. B. Wallace, was destroyed by fire on Monday night. The house was insured for £450, and the furniture for £260. The “gate” at the WairarapaHawke’s Bay football match was; £4OO.
