MINIATURE RIFLES

PUBLIC SERVICE CLUB The first annual general meeting of the rocently-formed Public Service Miniature Rifle Club was held in the Y.M.C.A Building last’ week. Mr W. C. Webb (Chairman) outlined what had .been done by the provisional committee, and thanked its members for tlie valuable assistance they had rendered him. The proposed rules and by-laws as drawn up by the provisional committee and adopted were read to the meeting. It was moved by Mr ,0. A. Woods, and seconded by Mr L. T. Rawson: “That the rules and by-laws- as amended form the constitution of the club.” The iuotion was carried unanimously. At this stage, owing to a prior engagement, the chairman excused himself, and Mr J. H. McKay was elected in his stead ELECTION OF OFFICERS The election of officers was then proceeded with :—President, Mr John Caughley- secretary and treasurer, Mr A. V. G. Wilson; assistant-secretary, Mr L. T Rawson; management committee. Misses L. Aubrey and J). Wood. Messrs W. 0. Webb, 4. H- McKay, F. W. Thompson, O. Wannell, J. W. Nissen, Jos. Johnson, H. D. London, W. A. Stuart, H. N. Haulers; captain, Mr L. T. Rawson; vicecaptains, Miss L. Aubrey and Mr F. W. Thompson; selectors, Messrs L. T. Rawson, W. C. Webb. A. V. G. Wilson; handiciipper, Mr F. W. Thompson; auditors. Messrs T. G. Gilbert and E. N. Bromley ; delegate to W.M.R.A.. Mr A. V. G. Wilson. A cordial welcome was accorded Mr O. Hempleman, who, by the unanimous wish of the meeting, was elected an honorary member of the club. The secretary reported that, tbe Wellington section. Public Service Association, had donated 2s from the social fund towards a trophy, to be known as tbe “Public Service Association’s (Wellington Section) Trophy.” The secretary also reported that over 50 members had sent in their applications for membership. The chairman then invited all present to adjourn to the Y.M.C.A. range, where three rounds each were fired. The honour of the first shot fell to Miss L. Aubrey and Mr O. Hempleman, followed by Mr L. T. Rawson and Mr A. V. G. Wilson. Judging from results, it is anticipated that the club will produce many firstclass shot 9.
