BERHAMPORE

FORWARDS AGAIN STRONG

If the Berhampore Rugby Club dneV, not make a success of the qeason the blame will not baflßttachable at the feet of its officers or players. Already activities have commenced at the new ground, and, in conjunction with the school committee, excavations have been placed under way, and a fine area will soon be available. In this direction the club is doing a fine work, as not only will benefit accrue to its senior men, but younger players at the school and in the lower grades will be given a chance to practise on the two grounds which will be available. The backs of the senior team will be weakened by the absence of M. Howard. centre-three-quarter, who captained the team so well, and W. B. Hundleby. who showed up well at fiveeighths. Howard has gone to Nelson, and Hundleby to Blenheim. The back division will again have the services of Walters (full), Matheson, Campbell, and Taylor (three-quarters), Burton and Lang (five-eighths), and Charles (half). A promising wing three-quarter in Stewart will be available, and there are one or two half-backs in reserve. The selectors will have a good choice for the vanguard, those available including Standen, Gunnion, Hume, Brown (2), Pope, Duncan, McArtney, Glennie, Goodall, Christie, Allen, and Deere. Goodall comes from Buller, and was tried out for tho All Blacks’ forward division. Harris, a former intermediate grade man, and Campbell, an Otago junior representative, will he given a try-out.
