MEDICAL STUDY TOURS
DIRECTOR AND DEPUTY DIRECTOR TO CO ABROAD. The League of Nations has invited the New Zealand Government to send an officer of the Health Department to Europe to take part, along with medical men from. other countries, in a three months’ tour of study of hospital and health matters generally on the Continent. It has been decided that Dr T. H. A. Vnlintino. Director-General of Health, shall be New Zealand’s representative, and arrangements are being made for him to leave in the course of the next month. Dr M. H. Watt, Deputy Director-General of Health, will leave in November for a similar tour in Japan. These "study tours are arranged entirely at the expense of the League ol Nations, and have been made possible largely by donations to the League from the Rockefeller Foundation. The League will allow £2OO expenses for New Zealand to Europe, and return, besides sustenance allowance in Europe. Both Dr Valintine and Dr Watt will report to the New Zealand Government on tlie results of their observations. So tar as Dr Walt is concerned, it is possible that he mav be able to attend the Congress of the Far Eastern Association of Tropical Science, which will be held ibout- the time he will be in Japan.
