CHAMPIONSHIP CONTEST ANDREWS AGAIN SUCCESSFUL IN SINGLES. MISS LLOYD IN LADIES* DIVISION. Per Press Association. PALMERSTON ]S(., January IS. There was glorious weather for the finals of the Wellington provincial tennis championships. E. D. Andrews (Palmerston North) and Miss N. Lloyd (New south Wales) won the respective singles. Andrews defeated Len France brilliantly despite a had break when the Wellingtonian took the first set from three love Miss M. Tracey (Wellington), by good tactics, disposed of the long-driving English player, Miss Howett, in straight sets, but was no match for the Australian in the finals. Miss Tracey, however, fought pluckily and shone at the net. She led 4—l in the second set. but could not maintain the advantage. ' Lampe and Wheeler nearly lowered the colours of the New Zealand doubles' champions in a magnifioent contest. The finals in three provincial doubles were decided to-day.
