WELLINGTON TO PLAY CANTER- - BURY AT NEW YEAR. OTHER. MATTERS. The Wellington Cricket Association met last night. Mr C. G. ‘Wilson presided, and there were present also Messrs R. Darroch, F. M. Martin, J. Hutchings, D. McKenzie, B. L. Salmon, and J. 15. Broad. A letter \vas received statin,j that the Auckland Association was upable to agree to the dates suggested by Wellington for Plunket Shield matches. Exception was taken to some refnarks reported to have been made at a recent meeting of the Wellington Association. . The chairman said Wellington wanted to foster a friendly feeling, and as Auckland said that yere committed to certain dates it would be well to fall in with them and play Canterbury on January Ist, 2nd and 3rd, and leave tho dates for the Otago and Auckland matches to be fixed later. For the future, the chairman added, some better scheme of arranging dates for Plunket Shield matches should be found. The chairman’s suggestion was agreed to. The team will leave for Christchurch on December 30th. COLTS FOR PRACTICE. It was reported that the following fifteen colts had been selected to practice at the Basin Reserve between 4.30 and 6 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays:— 'Varsity.—Arndt, Greig, Hollings, D. W. McKenzie. Hutt.—Warnes, Adams. Midland. —Barber, Spencer, Standidge. Ruddlesden. Institute.—Massey, Noot. Wol! ington.—Monkh oust* Y.M.C.A.—Lamason, J. R. Virtue. The first practice will be held nest week. SELECTOR FOR COUNTRY TEAM. Mr A. M. Ongley, of Palmerston North, was appointee! selector of the country team which is to.play the city team in Wellington on December 19th and 20th. It was decided to .ask the Minor Associations to nominate delegates to attend a conference in Wellington while the match is being played, in order to arrange a satisfactory scheme for selecting future country teams.
