The Canterbury Co.'s steamer Calm arrived at Wellington at 1 a.m. this morning from Dunedin and Timaru. The vessel is to leave here to-morrow for Lyttelton, Timaru and Dunedin, taking general cargo. The Wairau, which left Wellington at 1 a.m. on Saturday for Blenheim,, put back to the wharf at 4.25 a.m. owing to the stress''of the weather. The vessel sailed again at 12.10 this morning. Charles McArthur and Co. advise that as the Opua has been delayed by rain, in the south, she will not arrive at Wellington before Wednesday from Port Craig and Lyttelton. The vessel _is to sail on the following day for Nydiaßay to load timber for Lyttelton.Mr K. Swan has succeeded Mr W. J. Cannon as chief engineer of the Koma.Mr L. A. The R.M.-S. Marama was due at San Francisco on Thursday from Wellington, via ports. The C. and D. Line steamer Port Caroline left Wellington at 7 a.m. yesterday for Brisbane to complete loading in Australia for London. At the slip—Bona. MANUKA FROM SYDNEY. The Union Company’s steamer Manuka' arrived in the stream at Wellington at 2.35 p.m. yesterday direct from Sydney. Pratique was granted, and the vessel berthed at No. 1, north. Queen's wharf, ac 4.15 p.mThe Manuka left Sydney at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, and experienced moderate to haavj weather, catching the full force of the strong southerly wind when' nearing Wellington. The cargo for discharge totalled 747 tons, including 3728 cases of fruit for Wellington and 1126 for Lyttelton. The Manuka is to sail from Wellington on Thursday on the return trip to v>ydney.. THE PORT NAPIER. Tho C. and D. Line steamer Port Napier arrived at Wellington or 9.15 a.m* yesterday from Lyttelton, and berthed at the Glasgow wharf to complete Homeward loading. She will sail on Wednesday for London via Panama. THE WAIOTAPU. The Waiotapu, now at Melbourne, is to proceed thence to Sydney and Newcastle to complete discharge. Tho vessel afterwards returns to the pacific Slope to load in Septemoer for New Zealand and Australian ports. , WAIHEMO FOR PACIFIC SLOPE. The Union Company's Waihemo was to leave Sydney last week for Kembla to load coal preparatory to sailing for the Pacific Slope to load in Augnst for New Zealand and Australian ports. THE WAXKAWA. The Union. Company’s steamer Waikawa is due at Vancouver on July 31st from Australian ports. The 'vessel will load at Vancouver and Gan Francisco for New Zealand and Australian ports. THE PALOONA. The Union Company's intercolonial passenger steamer Paloona arrived at Wellington at 9.30 a.m. on Saturday from Melbourne via Bluff, Dunedin, and Lyttelton. The vessel will leave here tomorrow noon for Bluff and Melbourne. THE KARAMU. The Union Company advise that the Karamu, which, arrived at Bluff on Thursday from Wellington, is to sail from Bluff to-day for Dunedin, Oamaru, Timaru, and Wellington. CALM'S GENERAL AVERAGE. In connection with tho recent collision between the Canterbury Company's steamer Calm and the barque Rothesay Bay a general average has been struck on the cargo loaded by the Calm at Timaru. Consignees, before taking delivery of their cargo, are reqaired to sign a general average bond and to deposit per cent, on invoice c.i.f. plus 5 por oenfc. PAPAROA DUE TO-MORROW. The New Zealand Shipping Co/s line* Paparoa did not leave Whakat&ne until yesterday for Wellington, in ’continuation of her voyage from London. Tho vessel is due here to-morrow to discharge. ' WHAKATANGO LEFT COLON. Cable advice has been received by. the New Zealand Shipping Company that the W'hakatane left Colon on Wednesday, en route to London from Lyttelton. THE RAMA. The Chatham Islands Fishing Com pany advise that the Rama, which, arrived at the Ohathams at 2.30 p.m. on Friday from Wellington, is expected to arrive back here about next Saturday. NO CARGO FOR MAORI. The Union Company advise that the Maori, which leaves Wellington this evening for Lyttelton, will receive no rargo to-day. The vessel is to dock at Lyttelton to-morrow for cleaning and fainting, and will -sail, as usual, in the evening for Wellington. ARAWA SAILED. At 8 o’clocj on Saturday morning the Snvill and Albion Company’s liner Arawa left’Wellington for Southampton And London via Monte Video and Teneriffe. The vessel is fixed to sail again from Wellington for tbe Home ports in January.
