LONDON WOOL SALES
BETTER TONE PREVAILS. FREE AND B.A.WJR.A. OFFERINGS. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated 4th instant, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London: — Wool sales oommenced yesterday with offering 100,055 bales free wool, of which 682 'bales were New Zealand, balance principally Australian. Large attendance buyers, and, with good competition from Home and Continent, bulk offering sold. Compared with dosing rates last series merinos 5 per cent, dearer on average (quotation last series 60-64'e Is to Is 2d per lb). Fine crossbreds slightly dear, er, others unchanged. BA.W.E.A. sales to-day and to-morrow. Limit in accordance with Melbourne resolution not having been fixed in time for present series, it haa been decided to oner “Bawra” wool at limit approximately equal to dosing prices of April series. Closing prioes April series were:— 696t’s (merino), le to la 2d per b; 56’a (super half-bred), lljd to Is Id; 50’s (half-bred). 9Jd to lid; 48’s (fine crossbreds), 8d to 10d; 44-46’s (medium crossbreds), 6sd to Sid; 30-40’s (coarse crossbreds), 5d to 6id.
