LUDY LANGER

CHAMPION OF SWIMMERS. FAREWELL APPEARANCE TONIGHT. There is no doubt; that the sporting instincts of the Wellington public -will lead many to the Tepid Baths, Tasman street, to-night, where Ludy Langer, Olympic representative and world’s middle distance champion swimmer, will endeavour to break the 220yds record. There is nothing the local public likes better than a good sport, and Mr Ludy Langer is said to be one of the best sports in every respect that has ever toured New Zealand. His on© aim is to pass on to others all he knows about the art of swimming, that they in their turn may become proficient. When he heard that the local, centre was faced with a loss over the two carnivals held on April 15th and 16th, he immediately got in touch with the New Zealand Council and arranged that he should give a farewell appearance in Wellington. This appearance is being made to-night at-the Tepid Baths, and besides attempting to lower the 220yds record, Langer will also compete in th© 150yds, diving, and give exhibitions of the various swimming strokes. By his quiet, unassuming manner Langer made a host of friends during his recent short stay in Wellington, and the local . swimming centre hopes that the public will accord this world-famous champion athlete a tmly Wellington farewell. Popular prices 12s and Is) are being charged, but the number of 2s seats is limited.
