management committee meets. * The weekly meeting of the manage, meat committee of fclie Wellington Rugby Union -was held last night, Mr W. F. Hornig presiding. There were also present: Messrs A. Griffiths, E Ward, G. Jackson, J. T. Piki. J. Prendevilla, 11. Buck, and J. N. Millard. The Miramar Club lodged an appeal against' the suspension of T. R. Brooks, a. third-grade player, for disputing a referee’s decision.—lt was decided to refer ' the matter to the president. Dr A. K. Newman, to appoint a committee to hear the appeal. The Referees’ Association, applied for permission to play the Canterbury referees, as a curtain-raiser to tho representative match Auckland v. Wellington, which will be ployed at Athletic Park on September 4th.—Permission wag ■granted.- • Mr T. E. Brooks wrote suggesting that the union should consider the advisability, in tho interest of lower-grade football, and the game generally, of organising a third-grade representative team, as that particular grade was the strongest (numerically) in the competition.—The committee decided to reply stating that, owing to tho lateness of the season, it would bo impossible to arrange a match. The secretary of the Treasury Club
wrote asking for permission to play their annual match with the Lands and Survey Department at Athletic Park on July 20th. —Owing to the state of tho ground, conr-equcM: on the recent bad weather, permission was refused.
