SIR GEORGE CLIFFORD MAY ARRIVE TO-DAY. Tho news that Sir George Clifford was prevented from travelling by tho Mokoia from Lyttelton to Wellington was receivod by tho many racing men assembled hero from all parts of Now Zealand by something approaching disgust. lit is understood, however, that Sir George is endeavouring to defeat the men’s move. Information recoivecT'in Wellington yesterday was to the effect, that he was motoring to Picton, and from there ho would take a motor launch across the Strait, an- 1 bo here in time not only for the Wellington races, but in time to preside at tho Racing Conference to-morrow. Moreover, it is understood he is accompanied by his daughter.
