Reports from St. Louis, Kansas City, Chicago, Columbus, Cleveland, Detroit, San Francisco, and San Diego, indicate that the strike is crippling tho railway services throughout the whole country.
Passenger trains from New York ace leaving hours late. Tho tramway systems in cities near Xe.v York are being affected, and freight movements are uncertain in many parts of the country. Tho food supply of many cities is threatened. Tho actual strikers only number about "000, but 73,000 railroad workers ;ire idle. The strikers arc mostly switchmen and firemen.
