THE RECENT STORM
DAM-AGE TO BOTANICAL GARDENS Last week's storm has left its mark upon tho Wellington Botanical Gardens, however sheltered the reserve may have been from the tempestuous southerly by the surrounding hills. Trees and saplingfl have been damaged considerably in the most exposed portions of tho reserve, and, unfortunately, this damage has not been confined to the severing of branches, for in some instances whole trees arc down. One large pine tree alongside the shaded path near the entrance to the park at Orangi Kaupapa road was brought down across tho track, constituting a danger to persons passing tho gardens by night.
