THE SCOW KAHU
SEARCH PARTY RETURNS.
SURMISED THAT VESSEL FOUNDERED.
The launch wh'ich left Tauranga in charge of Captain Berridge to search for ttie missing scow Kahu returned oa -Saturday afternoon, after a thorough search of the Alderman and Mercury lelands, and down the coast to the Slippers (says a Press Association telegram). No trace of the scow or of any wreckage was found. The launch ran into Mercury harbour on Mercury Island, and Captain Berridgo conferred there with Mr Bennett, who is in f charge of the Government launch Nora, also engaged in the search, which,' up to 3 o'clock oh Friday afternoon, had found no trace. Captain Berridge also met the manager of tho Mercury Island estate, who had already searched the islands, but found no trace. It is surmised that the Kahu foundered.
