Tho report of the engineers appoint" ed to -investigate the harbour position nt Gisborne has been received. It rocmnmonds the construction of a harbour off Kaiti beach enclosing 170 acres with a depth of 42 feet to accommodate the largest ocean-going liners. The cost is estimated at ei.SOO.OOO, and the board would he required to find .£IOO,OOO revenue annually, which, it was suggested, could be secured by the increase of port dues and hy the imposition of a halfpenny rate on the £15,000,000 rate able.
