PRICE OF TEA
SYDNEY STOCKS HEAVY. Reassuring news regarding tho tea market appears in a recent issue of the Sydney "Sun." This reads: —"Tkcro ie no immediate prospect of tea being any dearer. The tariff does not affect , it, and Sydney stocks are heavy. Tea importers report easier positions in stocks, owing to the heavy arrivals during the last month, and slightly lower rates ruling in Ceylon. The In. dian tea market has closed, and mosv of the desirable tea in Java has been sold almost to the end of tho year. I This means that Australia will have to ; draw most of her requirements in tho future from Ceylon, and buyers w-ilj have to compete -with the rest of tho world. Ceylon growers are at present selling on a'low basis, 'but -although there is a possibility of a hijrher price ruling, it seems that Australia hao at present a chance of buying teg. cheaper than for "some time past. Tho trado having got its stocks, is sitting back.
