SALE OF BLOOD STOCK
The sale of thoroughbred stock at - the Ep®om Show Grounds, Auckland, by the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company attracted a good attendance. Chief ■ interest centred round a collection of English-bred mares and tbe 'stallion Snow Icing that figured on tho catalogues to be sold without reserve. Two of tho mares submitted realised 400gns respectively, but tho competition for the stallion Snow King fell below - expectations Mr M. Deoblc securing the English horse at 335gns. The following are the details of the sale: —Bay mare, Ladvsmock, by from Lady of the ‘Night, stinted to Snow King, Mr M. Dceble (Thames), 400gns; Lady Mareca, by The Gull from Mareca, by Cherry Ripe, stinted to Snow King, Mr M. Deoble (Thame®), loOgns; Mane O’Dile, by St. Amant from Hungry Bird, by Missel Thrush, stinted to Snow King, Mr J. Hand (Helensville), tOOgns; Yes, by Valens from Aye-Aye, by Flying Lemur, Mr G. M. Currie (Wanganui), 370gns; Bay horse Snow King, seven years old, by Willonyx from Snowflight, by Cyllene, Mr M. Deoble (Thame®), 32ogns. Of tho racehorses in training sent into the ring, tho Australian-bred mare Hincamaru, a four-year-old daughter of Poseidon from Forfar Girl, excited most ■ competition, and at 220gns she fell to the hid of Mr A. Chisholm, of Otautau, Southland. Bang (by Bezonian—Report) was bought hv Mr P. W. Scally, of Taranaki, at 73gns. to be subsequently resold to Mr H. Baker, of To Awamutu for lOOgns. Mr M. Deoble secured Gatherer (by Multifid—Kaiaua) for 75gns, and Mr E. C. Ashwm had only to bid 20gns to become the buyer of 'Seville (by Penury—Orange and pin eh Oak Aibbey, by Quin Abbey— Waimangu, failed to roach the reserve in the rims, but he was subsequently cold to Mr D. Green, Hauraki Plains, for 500gns. A four-year-old mare by Royal Poult from Miss Explosion was knocked down to Mr A. McDuflf, Taka--nini at logns, and a grey mare, seven years old, by Royal Soult from an Arab mare, went Very cheaply to Mr T. Cashen, Ohinewai. at 9gns.
