Two thousand people have committed suicide in the United States dur the last six months. According to figures compiled by a "Save a Life Leagu the list of victims ranges from a man 100 years old to a bov of 10 year: "Daily Xen-s," London, Monday, July 11th, 1919. DRUG HABIT COMMISSION on the prevale of the Drug Habit in America ed by Congress to investigate and reporton the extent of the Drug Habit as the result of Prohibition in U.S.A. The Commission consisted of Mr E. F. Rainey, of 111., Prof. A. S. Hunt, Harvard University,. Dr. U. C. Dumese, U.S.A. Health Officer, and Mr D. C. Keith, InternaJ Revenue Bureau. They roported, inter alia : "In reply to questionnaires sent to health officers of State, County and Municipalities, the Health Commission of New York City reported a total of 103,000 addicts, eciunl to 1.8 per cent, of the population; . and on this- basis there would bo 1.908,000 addicts in the U.S.A."-See N.Z. Prohibition Handbook, 1919. OVER ONE MILLION AFFECTED The Drug Habit is more prevalent in urban than in rural -areas. The effect of Prohibition on the situation could not be definitely determined bv the committee. "The consensus of opinion of those interested in the subject appears to be that the number of addicts will increase under State-wide Prohibition." That is the finding of this Congressional Committee, and it adds:— "The committee is of opinion that the total number of DRUG ADDICTS IN U.S.A. EXCEEDS ONE MILLION AT THE PRESENT TIME."—See N.Z. THE SEVEtf DEVILS OF PROHIBITION There is- over one and a-half per cent, in cities and.one per cent, in country districts of the people addicted to the evils of Opium, Cocaine, Hashish, Herion, Chloral. Either, Laudanum, and these are the Seven Devils that Prohibition creates. "The last state of that man is -worse than the first." Drunkenness is cured by Temperance and Virtue results. Prohibition is a political agitation and has never savedono intemperate person. Prohibition is the worst social menace that the' mind of man who would destroy his fellows has ever conceived. The Seven Devils of Prohibition are destroying the people of America. WHERE THEEE WAS ONE DRUNKARD THERE ARE NOW TEN DRUG FIENDS. For the sake of humanity avoid the Seven Devils of Prohibition and vote, thus:— - (I) I VOTE FOR NATIONAL CONTINUANCE
