RECENT CASUALTIES . CORPORAL F, RICHARDS. Word was received on Saturday night that Corporal Frank Richards died ol ! wounds on April tilth. He was a son of Mr J. H. Eiohards, of Nelson. He loft Nelson about 'eight'years ago, and was a resident of Bulls when he enlisted with one of the earlier Eeinforcements. He leaves a widow, and ■ one child. Corporal Richards was a fine footballer, and was an ex-Nelson representative Rugby player. ' PEIVATE AV. CARAIODY.

Mr J. Carmody has been officially advised that his youngest son. Private AY. Carmody, was killed in action on October 12th last during the attack on Passchendaele ridge. After the hatle Private Carmody was reported missing, and his death is adjudged by Court of Inquiry. Another son, Sergeant-Major J. Carmody, .was. killed in action last year. Private. Carmody was twenty-one years of age and in the employ of the Alanawatu Timber Company, at Taihape, before enlistment; --He was bom in Palmerston North. • Mr - Carmody. has received the official letters of sympathy in his sad loss. PRIVATE A. BRUNT. A good record of service in, the cause of the Empire is that to the credit of the sons of Air .1; Brunt, of Opotiki, three Or whom have served with the Now Zealand Expeditionary Force. - Private Arthur BrufiJt. who was killed in action on March 30th, was the third son. He was born at Melbourne 26 years ago, and came to New Zealand -with his parents when Kn infant;' He was educated at the Opotiki school, and- at the time of enlistment in -the eighteenth Eeinforcements, was a. bricklayer and contractor at Opotiki. lie was an energetic member of the Oddfellows. His eldest brother, Jack ‘’BrUht,"’also" enlisted in the eighteenth - Eeinforcements, but returned to New Zealand invalided at the end .< f 1917. His youngest brother, Percy Brunt, enlisted and went to Cl camp in February last and is now drafted into the fortieth Eeinforcements. CORPORAL A r . RUSSELL HALLEY. Mr J'.: H.‘ Pagni, Consul, for Italy in Auckland, has received cable advice that his nephew, Corporal Vivian Russell Halley. SO years of age, who enlisted with the 17th Reinforcements, is reported missing, believed to be prisoner, on April sth. Corporal "Viv" Halley was educated in the AVellihgton College, and prior to enlisting was in- .the employ of Messrs Bing, Harris and Co., .softgoods warehousemen, Wellington. ■ PRIVATE LEONARD CREAMER.' In the list of casualties, tliis week appeared the' Jnam'e of Privatei Leonard Creamer, who Comes of an old Auckland family. His father (Mr Hill Creamer), of Ponsonby, was born in ’ that city 65 years ago, and his .mother was born in the Mount..Eldcn district.. Private Creamer was.a- .fine stamp of man, and was in his twenty-seventh year. He was educated at Mount Eden School, and served his apprenticeship with Messrs Qilmour and Joll. Afterwards he ‘ was a mill smith in’the Northern AVairpa, and later went farming with his brother in the' Kaipara. The younger brother, Joel Creamer, having been called in tbe ballot, Leonard at once enlisted, and , the farm was” sold. The two;-brothers : left with the 25th Reinforcements, a year last April. Private Leonard Creamer was a well-known- forward for , the Northern AVairoa Football Club. SECOND-LIEUTENANT AV. T. NELSON. ■ The news was received in Napier on Friday that Second-Lieutenant AV. T. Nelson (“Pat"), third .son of Mr and Mrs AVh T. Nelson, had been killed in action 'in’ France 'on April ißth. Tbe late Lieutenant Nelson, who was only '2-1 years of age, was a member of tbe Alain Body of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, and had' seen service in the East as well as in France. Deceased was wellknown in the AVairarapa.
