BANOS CONCERT
An enthusiastic meeting of members of tho Wellington combined baud 3 was held last evening for the purpose of further considering the proposed massed band concert in aid of tho Red Jersey Appeal. It was unanimously decided to organise a concert to take place in the Town Hall on Wednesday, Juno 3rd. The eight hands taking part will include the Tramways, Waterside Workers, Mission, Salvation Army, New Zealand Natives, Patriotic Society, Newtown Salvation Army, and Treutham Military. Tho evening’s entertainment will include selections and marches by individual bands and several massed cd band pieces will bo played. Tickets will be on sale almost immediately. Mr A. J. Mills was elected chairman and Mr W. A. Baker hon.- secretary. Newtown entered the Artillery Battle last evening, when the Tramways Band fired an opening shot of £3O for tiro Red Artillery, that amount being tho proceeds of the band’s concert held at His Majesty’s Theatre or. Sunday evening last. This is a good opening shot which is certain to he followed up by an enterprising committee.

The equipment has boon added to where necessary, though much more is required in every branch of tho woqrk. It is not possible, however, to use much more in our present quarters. I -have to draw attention to tho fact that it is impossible to make adequate cloak room and sanitary provision in tho hired promises,”
