FRIGHTENING A RIVAL. Press Association. DANNEVIRKE, October 10. John Erie Matson, a middle-aged, one-legged man, separated from his wife, appeared at the Magistrates Court to-day, and was remanded on a charge of placing blasting powder in the premises occupied by one James Cotterill. Accused had a grudge against Oottorill over a family trouble, and it is alleged that ho made a bomb out of blasting-powder and an old sock, attaching thereto a fuse. This, in the middle of the night, he threw into his rival's bedroom, greatly frightening him (as be admitted he intended to do), and also slightly burning Mm about the head and face.
