GAS CONSUMERS’ RESOLUTION
A large number of consumers of gas for power purposes are seriously affected by the curtailment of the supply of gas, and are becoming anxious about future supplies. This was demonstrated at tho Employers’ Federation held yesterday, when a resolution to bo forwarded to tho Prime Minister was unanimously adopted as follows : That this meeting of Wellington consumers of gas for industrial power purposes, much of ii in connection with the manufacture of military" supplies, having learned that the stock of coal now held by the Wellington Gas Company is only sufficient for a short period, recognises the serious results which will bo experienced if the supply of gas for industrial purposes is not maintained. Tho meeting haying been informed that a vessel Vis now in harbour containing a load of State coal for the gasworks earnestly urges upon the Government that it should take immediate steps to complete its contract and have the coal discharged.
