MEAT TRUST ENQUIRY

FIRST SITTING OF THE COMMISSION. The first sitting of the Meat Trust Commission, comprising sixteen members ‘of Parliament, was held yesterday, and one witness was partly examined. The Prime Minister (the Right Hon. W. F. Massey) made a statement with regard to the result of his inquiries in England into the operations of the meat trusts; and at 1 p.m. the Commission, which was not open to the press, adjourned till Wednesday next. Yesterday afternoon the House of Representatives added the names of the Hon. A. T. Ngata (Eastern Maori District) and Mr G. J. Anderson (Mataura) to the Commission.
