NEW SOUTH WALES BUDGET
SHORTAGE IN ESTIMATED RECEIPTS. By Telegraph—Pfess Association—Copyright SYDNEY, August 3. In the Assembly, the Budget was delivered. It showed the revenue at £20,511,000, being £287,000 short of the estimated receipts, and a deficit for the year of £268,000. The estimated revenue for 1917-18 amounts to £22.417,810, and the expenditure £22,385,055. The estimated revenue from new sources is £140,000. The public debt on June 30th amounted to £138,138,347. ■ Railway and tramway earnings are anticipated to show an increase of £1,265,000, including £414,000 from new rates. The now revenue includes an increase of £53,000 from taxes on betting. The Treasurer said that the future bristles with difficulties as far as loan money is concerned. The State Government preferred to stand aside rather than enter the domain which at tho present is essentially the domain of the Federal Government; but ho felt confident that the Government would bo able to secure sufficient money to meet all its ordinary obligation#-
