THE SHOCK AT RABAUL.
• MELBOURNE, January 14. Senator Pearce (Minister for Do* fence) has been advised that the ■earthquake at Rabaul on the 4th instant caused severe and numerous landslides. Houses were shaken down at Toma, and at Rabaul the harbour roBO ten feet. Numbers of buildings and the jetty were badly strained.
