The Prime Minister mentioned yes* terday that he had noted the continued rising tendency in the price of potatoes, and waa taking preliminary steps in connection with the possible prohibition of exports. A comparison of Australian and New Zealand prices, taken in conjunction with the duty and the freight charges, suggested that the demand from Australia did i not account tor all tho rise in the local price, but exact information with regard to the position was not easy to secure-
