WAR LOAN AND TAX
TO BE INTRODUCED EARLY. Press Association. DUNEDIN, June 21. . The Hon. James Allen informed a ‘reporter that one of the first questions to be submitted to Parliament would ho that of a war loan, which would be large. War taxation would have to be imposed. The original war loan obtained from the Imperial authorities —£200,000 —had been spent, and (over £BO,OOO more'; A smaller sum had been financed by other-means. It was therefore necessary to introduce, 'a War Loan Bill, early in tho session, followed by a War Tax Bill. Regarding military' pensions, Mr Allen said: “Legislation will be introduced this session for tho purpose of jestablishing a now scale. The principal jpart of the bill bad been practically ’agreed to by-the Cabinet. The bill will bo of a generous character,”
