MAGISTRATE’S COURT
POLICE AND BY-LAW CASES.
Yesterday’s sitting of the Magistrate’s Court was presided oyer by'Air D. G, A. Cooper, S.M. Percivai Richard AVaddy was fined 10s, or forty-eight hours' detention, for insobriety. Charles Dempster and John Cashman, on a charge of stealing various articles of a total value of £zb, .were further remanded until Thursday. Bail was allowed as -before. A plea of not guilty was entered by Ernest Edward Harper, charged WicU stealing a belt containing A 7. the property of Arthur Edward, Brierly. After evidence had been heard, accused was sentenced to three mouths' imprisonment. '
Breaches of various by-laws cost the following small monetary penalties:— Cedric Allan, Arthur Dnncan, Donald Fraser. Herbert Porter, AVilliam Cranefield, Benjamin Samuel Reed, Mary Feeley, Roderick McLeod. Staveley and AVaite. Joseph AVilliam Brown, Herbert Liddle. and \V- A. AVilson.
