WELCOME TO TRAINING COLLEGE CADETS.

Ail impressive ceremony took place at the .Vivian street Citadel last night, the occasion being the welcoming ,oi the young cadets who arc entering the Salvation Aniiv College to be trained as officers, and the installation of Officer Carter in the position of adjutant to the training college. Colonel Tew Icy presided, and the large audience gave its whole attention to the various addresses. Adjutant Carter, in a concise but convincing speech, referred to his visit to London, and* the sights he saw there made him think tlia'c the workers. and these in trouble and suffering, instead of turning to religion for relief, were becoming enraptured witn Socialism and letting all Christian feelings be trampled in the dust. lie poinioct out that these forty cadets,. girls and boys, had an extensive field before them, in which they could do much to lighten the burden of all those who, perhaps, had been victims of circumstances. Commissioner Eic hards gave a stirring address and impressed upon the cadets that they must beconje a light for all troubled souls, .. Their lamps must illuminate all the evil and darkness in the alleyways of life. The cadets who would bo of value must have a clean heart and clean hands- If they conscientiously did their duty they would have untold happiness in the knowledge that they were doing the noblest work of all On behalf of the young girls who had taken np the work. Adjutant McKaysaid a few words. Brigadier Gist, who is in charge of the training college, briefly welcomed the cadets, and urged them to take advantage of all the opportunities which would bo tendered them to gain knowledge.
