MR GEORGE WESTINGHOUSE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Cops tlglu “Times'’ and Sydney "Sun” Services. (Received March 13, 5.20 p.m.) WASHINGTON, March 13. The death is announced of Mr George Westinghouse, the inventor. Death was due to heart disease. • [Mr George Westinghouso was born in America in 1846. He was assistant engineer United States Navy, 186465: he invented a device for replacing derailed steam oars, 1865; patented his invention of the air brake, 1868; applied pneumatic devices to switching and signalling, greatly increasing efficiency; bnilt the first ten great dynamos at Niagara, the dynamos for the elevated and subway roads in New York, and for the Metropolitan Railway in London; established the practicability of utilising natural gas as fuel in homes, mills, and factories : founded great works at Wilmerding, East Pittsburg, Swissvale, and Trafford, Pa., U.S.A., Hamilton, Oaaiada, ,Manchester and London, Havre, Hanover, St. Petersburg. Vienna, and Vado, Italy. President of thirty corporations, giving work to 50,000 employees.]
