At the annual meeting of Australian Steamships, Limited, the chairman referred to the decreased profits owing to increasingly heavy demands made by all sections of employees. He said that if the new demands were granted the shipowners would he compelled, in self-preservation, to increase the fares and freights, even though the result might be a possible diminution and diversion of trade.
