ASTRONOMERS LOOKING FOR A ' RIVAL TO HALLEY’S. LONDON, January 29. The advent of a new comet which may rival in brilliance the famous Halley’s Comet is anxiously awaited by astronomical observers at Greenwich Observatory. This fact was revealed by the Rev. R. Fermor Rendcll, formerly of the Royal Observatory, and Chief Assistant in the Natal Government Observatory, Durban, in the course of a lecture delivered last night at Sion College, the Embankment, on “A,Day and a Night ni th 6 Royal Observatory.'' The new comet, the lecturer said, may r.wsibly become a very bright object within a few months.
