From Our Own Correspondent. March 13. The Masterton Tennis Club defeated Eketahuna at Eketahuna yesterday by six games to five. Messrs S. Priest, J. Hare, B. Morriss, W, Elliott, R. Archibald, J. 11 os; and J. P. Linehan have been elected directors of the Rongokokako Cheese Company. Mr Priest has been appointed chairman of directors. Mr and Mrs T. C. Webb, of Masterton, left to-day' on a visit to Nelson. Mr E. J. Playle. of Martinborough, has purchased a farm in the Pahiatua district. The Wellington Farmers’ Meat Company are putting through .over 2000 sheep per day at their works at Waingawa. The largest draft of sheep, numbering 4000, ever received at the works arrived this week. Those farmers in the Masterton district who .have conducted experiments in lucerne growing have had very successful results. This crop will be more extensively grown" in Masterton next season. Mr and Mrs H. R. Bunny, of Carterton, have gone on a trip to Napier. The polo match played at Waipukurau yesterday between the Wairarapa and Waipukurau clubs was won by the former by four goals to three. In a contest for the Grady medals at Masterton on Wednesday W. Fisher and Whyte (Carterton) defeated the holders, O. Pragnell and F. Staples, by) 22 points to 9. /
