Dr Mawson stated that popular lectures would he delivered in Australia before they were delivered in England. The popular story of the expedition would he printed in England, hut the scientific results, which would occupy many volumes, would be published in Australia. He declared that the Antarctic played the greatest part in the world’s climate of any known land mass. Ho mentioned that wind-driven snow - formed an impervious mask -for- the face, and the weirdness of the scene was increased at night by blue lights scintillating from the face, hands, and clothes, supposed to he electricity, with which the atmosphere was surcharged. ..
