Mr Hoyle, Assistant Treasurer, turned a deaf ear to the Labour Council deputation’s protest against the increase in tram fares. He said that a heavy loss was incurred in working , the,, tramways, which must bo made to pay. He was convinced that the loss would bo’covered if the fares were properly collected. _ He appealed to the Trades Council to bring its influence to boar on .the tramway officials to do this. Soon, even tile leeway would bo made up, and the fares reduced.
