NEW HEBRIDES
NO QUESTION OF ACQUISITION. ■By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright LONDON, March 11. Sir C. Kinloch Cooke has asked Sir Edward Grey (Foreign Secretary) to oopsult Mr Lewis Harcourt (Colonial Secretary) with a view to_approaching the Commonwealth regarding the latter’s desire to take the New Hebrides. Sir Edward Grey said there was no question of acquisition. If it arose, the Government would act in consultation with the Commonwealth, with whom it was in close touch.
CONVERSATIONS BETWEEN ' FRANCE AND ENGLAND. MAINTENANCE OF CONDOMINIUM. PARIS, March 11. In reply to a question in the Chamber of Deputies, M. Doumergue (Prime Minister) said that the French and English Governments, with a desire to maintain the condominium in the New Hebrides, w'ould hold conversations with a view to remedying certain present imperfections.
