WANGANUI, March 12. •A most unfortunate error occurred In connection with the announcement of “Queen of Carnival” election owing to £SO worth of votes ' tor Mrs McGregor being uncounted. Miss McDonald was declared elected by a majority of over 5000, but a recount was demanded and to-night it was announced that Mib McGregor, who was placed second, was in reality the Queen, having a- majority of 469 votes over Miss McDonald. The election created the utmost interest, and the unfortunate bungle is generally regretted. The total votes recorded amounted to 133,044, representing £llsO in 2d votes.
