MAGISTRATE’S COURT
YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS. Yesterday’s sitting of tho Magistrate’s Court was presided over by Mr D. G. A. Cooper, S.M. For drunkenness Clara Algar was convicted and discharged, and a prohibition order to take effect for twelve months was iss’acd against her. Michael Driscoll was fined LOs, or three days’ imprisonment; Thomas Watson, was mulcted in the sum of £2. or seven days’ imprisonment. For importuning, Mary Brown, Mary Collins, and Mary Johnson were convicted and each fined £l, in default one month’s imprisonment. Kathleen Brady admitted having entered the Terminus Hotel during the currency of a prohibition order, but she pleaded not guilty to a charge of importuning. On the first charge she was convicted and fined £l, in default one month’s imprisonment. A similar penalty was imposed on the second charge. Roderick Finlay&on and Oharles McKinnon were each convicted of using threatening behaviour in Lambton quay, whereby a breach of tho peace was occasioned. A fine of £l, in default seven days’ detention, was imposed. ' Arthur Hathenvell, a blue jacket, pleaded not guilty to a charge of indecency. Ho was, however, convicted and ordered to he handed over to the naval authorities. CIVIL BUSINESS.
