LOCAL INSTITUTIONS BENEFIT.

Under tho will of the lat© Mrs S. A Rhodes, several local philanthropic institutions benefit considerably.. The will is dated August 29th, 1912. The bequests include £4OOO to her brother Edward Moorhouse, of Spratton, Northampton, England; £2OOO to her sister, Lucy Ellen Sykes Studholme, of Bath, England; £3OOO to her brother, William S. Moorhouse, of Hay, New South Wales; £2OOO to her nephew, William H. C. .Wigley, solicitor, Christchurch; £IOOO each to her nephews. William U» Sef ton Moorhouse, Benjamin M. Moorhouse (Christchurch), ' Mark 0. Moorhouse (Johannesburg, South Africa), to her niece Rosa Rhodes (wife of Arthur E, G. Rhodes; of Christchurch), to _her nephew John Studholme (of Coldstream, Canterbury), to her nephew Joseph F.' Studholme (of Ruanui), to her nieoe Lucy Ellen Barton (wife ox William Barton, of Featherston), and to Walter K. McAlpine (of Mount White Station, Canterbury). Smaller legacies were left to a large number of-relatives. . , , ' . To the St. John Ambulance Nursing Guild she left £SOO, ■ and a similar amount to the St.-John Ambulance Association for furthering the work of the association in the city of WelJingA* sum of £SOO was left to the trustees of the Young Women s Chnse ian Association, Wellington, and £IOOO to the trustees of the Wellington Boys’ Institute. Other bequests are ; £IOO to the Rev. Mother Mary Aubertr £IOO to the trustees of the„Ohiro Benevolent Home, to be expended in Christmas dinners to the inmates; £IOO to die Home for the Aged and Needy. , Finally the will sets out that,' alter complying with its directions, the residue of the estate is to he divided equally between the Victoria University College, Wellington, to be applied for the education of women; the trustees of the Wellington Boys Institute; and a number of her relations.
