The Methodist Conference decided on a rigorous pledge-signing crusade during the year, and recommended the introduction of legislation for State option in addition to the local option ballots, on the basis of a bare majority vote. The conference entered protests ggainst Sunday military exercises, prize-fighting, and the licensing of stadiums, and urged the Attorney - General to refuse to authorise art unions, which were described as instruments of gambling. The conference urged all Methodists to abstain from secular engagements and unnecessary travelling on the Sunday.
