UNITED STATES’ BILL TO REGULATE THEM. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright WASHINGTON, March 10. Mr Samuel Untermeyer, a leading lawyer, examined by, the Senate Committee on Banking Currency, defended the bill, which would regulate stock exchanges. He denied that the hill was intended to Russianise the American press. The bill merely empowered the Postmaster-General to exclude from the mails any publication Containing quotations from an improperly organised Stock Exchange. Mr Untermeyer declared that the power and momentum of the American press was increasing so rapidly that the clanger was that the press would Russianise the people.
