Professor Malladra and two companions descended twelve hundred feet In the crater of Mount Vesuvius. They found inside the funnel at the bottom of the crater an enormous fiery cavern. They lost their thermometers through a steel rope fusing, but previous to the mishap they registered C26deg.. Fahrenheit.
