Very soon Thomdon will hare an np» to-date picture theatre and skating rink. Arrangements have been made for the erection of a handsome steelframed building on the corner of Charlotte and Sydney streets at a cost of about £12,000. The skating rink will occupy the basement and above it will be the theatre, but as the rinking floor will be laid in a special material which deaden* all sound, the skaters will in no way interfere with the enjoyment of those people watching the pictures. It is said that the rink floor will be the only one of its kind in New Zealand. The company anticipates being able to call for tenders within a fortnight, and hope to have the picture theatre open by Christmas time.
