FIGHTING THE FLAMES
BUSH FIEFS IN POVERTY BAY,
PRESS ASSOCIATION. GISBORNE, December 7. Bush fires occurred in the Whareata and Morero districts. Many settlers were up all night fighting the flames, which spread rapidly over the country, aided by a high wind. Xo homesteads hare been lost, but a good deal of fencing, also sheep- yards, hare been destroyed.
