WELLINGTON RUGBY UNION. MEETING OF MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. The weekly meeting of the Wellington Rugby Union was held last night. There were present Messrs E. 0. Hales (in tho chair), B. Little, W. Hardham, J. Burns, IV. Perry, and J. Sweeney. REPRESENTATIVE MATCHES. Tho Wairarapa Union made application for dates for junior and senior representative games to bo played in Wairarapa—lt was decided to suggest August sth as tho date for the junior match. Tho fixing of a date for the senior match was deferred meantime. _ Tho Auckland Union submitted their touring programme; —• Wellington, Saturday, September 2nd; Dunedin, Wednesday, September 6th; Christchurch, Saturday, September 9th; Taranaki, Thursday, September 14 th.— The committee approved tho Wellington date. SIXTH CLASS. Tho committee appointed to make arrangements for a. sixth-class compc* titioiYnext season reported having arranged for a competition to commence on April Ist, 1912. Tho matches will bo played between 1.45 and 3 p.m. on grounds most easily accessible. Seven grounds were specified, making it possible for fourteen teams to compete. Tho teams will bo supplied with footballs, and travelling expenses will bo allowed when they are required to play out of town. Re schools football, it was suggested that a competition be convened on Saturday week if possible. The agelimit is fourteen years, and the matches will be played between 12.40 and 1.45 p.m. on Saturdays. UNIVERSITY TEAM. AUSTRALIAN TOUR SUCCESSFUL. The New Zealand University football team arrived back from Sydney yesterday. Mr L. J. Potter (of the Dunedin ’Varsitv team), who captained the side throughout the tour, and Mr Curtayno (Victoria, College) are well pleased with the tour. Of threo matches played the visitors won two, tho first match with Sydney University drawing an attendance of over 601)0 spectators. The League game they state, is tho game in Sydney to-day so far as numbers are-concerned. It has taken tho players that loom large in the public eye and the ZeaJaiiders were charmed with the calibre of the men in tho game. The League game at present towers over the Union game, but tho Union authorities are stated to be very hopeful and are of opinion that tho worst has passed. Tho tour ■of the team was a financial success, there being a credit balance of about .£2O. This is regarded as highly satisfactory, especially ui view of the 'fact that last Saturday there was a strong counter attraction in tho star League match and the sprint championship of the world, which wo® run during the interval. The New Zealanders are delighted with tho trip, and speak in glowing terms of their treatment while on tour.,

FIRMS’ ANNUAL MATCH SPECIAI/ TO THE "TIMES." PALMERSTON NORTH. July 13. The annual football match between the employees of Barraud and AbrahaiA and Abraham and Williams was played today. A handsome cup is fought for each year, and the teams arc chosen from the various branches in the Wairarapa, Manawatu, Hawke’s Bay, and Rangititei districts. To-day Barraud and Abraham’s representatives were the winners after a good struggle by 12 points to 6. WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION The Wellington Football Association met at the Y.M.C.A. last evening. Present : Messrs Holmes (chair), Dick, Salmon, Thompson, Paton, Reid, and Williams. .... Tho Auckland Football Association asked when the Wellington Association was likely to play tho Fourth Division representative match. —It was decided that the match should take place at Auckland on August 12th. _ . The Wanganui Association inquired when the Wellington representative team would play at Wanganui.—The matter was referred to tho selectors. Newtown Congregational entered a team for the Fourth Division Cup. Marist School entered a team for the Schools Comuotition. With respect to a complaint that Porirua boys’ team played time short in tho match last Saturday week, the referee reported that twenty-five minutes were played in each spell.—lt was resolved to inform tho complainants aoC °TFo l *antain of the South Wellington Club .applied ' that tho Fifth Division "B” grade match clayed on the Basin Reserve last Saturday against Marist School be awarded to South Wellington on the grounds of an error by the referee. The request was not entertained, it being decided that tho point at issue was a question of fact. . AVith reference to tho Corinthians Club’s complaint of Swifts Club approaching a player belonging to their team, a letter was read stating that a supporter only had approached a Corinthian player. The Corinthian Club is to bo m- ; formed to this effect. The question of approaching the Canterbury Football Association to play a match in Wellington was deferred. A letter from Mr Jacobs, of Ponrna, suggesting that representative players be supplied with badges was referred to the treasurer. . .... , The Blenheim Schools Association wrote asking that tho boys’ representative match be played on Wednesday, July 19th, at Wellington. This date was rgreed to and all matters in connection with tho game were left to the boys’ subcommittee to deal with. Mr E.
