ON “ THE TR ADE ” IN NEW SOUTH WADES. By Telegraph—Press Association—uopynghl SYDNEY. April 21. The Nolicenso Conference adopted resolutions in favour of giving practical support to the establishment df liquorless hotels, the principle of State •option, and . repeal of the three-fifths majority clause at the local option polls. Tho Licensed Victuallers’ Association discussed the question of temperance hotels. Statements were made to the effect that prohibition cities in America were dismal, gloomy places. INVERCARGILL'S EXAMPLE. (Received April 22. 1.6 a.m.) SYDNEY. April 21. Tho Rev. Mr Ferguson, speaking at tho Alliance conference, said that in Invercargill recently he looked for dire results from no-licenso, but instead he found the town improved socially, morally, and materially. The people in tho liquor trade were in it to make money, while the opponents of the liquor traffic were not to save money for the community. : .
