Daily outrages and intimidations occur in the* Rhondda Valley. Workmen have been thrown into the Rhondda river, and officials and their families harassed. TRAINS HELD UP. (Received November 22, 10.30 p.m.) LONDON, November 22. Strikers in South Wales are holding up and searching trains for blacklegs. They threaten to destroy tho rails if blacklegs are carried. The manager of the Tail Vale railway demands protection for the travelling public.
SETTLEMENT ATTEMPTED. (Received November 23, 1.15 a,m.). LONDON, November 22. Mr G. R. Askwith. Controller-General of the Labour Department of tho Board of Trade, will attempt to bring about a settlement of the South Wales miners’ strike. OFFENSIVE REMARKS WITHDRAWN. LONDON, November 22. Mr Charles Stanton, the Socialist leader, who organised fighting brigades at Abendare, has withdrawn certain offensive, remarks he made regarding the manager of the Powell-Duffryn colliery.
