SOUTHLAND DOCTORS OPPOSE DR FINDLAY'S PROPOSALS. PRESS ASSOCIATION. INVERCARGILL, November'22. A meeting of local doctors, held tonight. discussed Dr Findlay’s proposals in regard to venereal diseases, and criticised his speeches thereon, particularly his statistics. The criticism was largely on the lines of Dr Kington Fvffe’s recent letter to the "New Zealand Times.” The following resolution was carried: "That the Medical Association of Southland is of oninion that Dr Findlay's statistics are absolutely misleading and incorrect, certainly not applicable to Southland in the experience of members, and it is absolutely inconceivable from what authority the figures were obtained; further. in the oninion of this association, the AttorneyGeneral’s proposals, instead of attaining the objects in view, would unquestionably increase the evil-” It was stated that it was doubtful whether Dr Findlay’s figures could hold good even in a Lock hospital.
