, The Masterton Golf Club played the firs* round for the president's challenge trophy on Saturday. Leading scores:—F. C. Winter 87, C. Perry 83, G. G. Aitken 88. M. Fo. ley 88, P. L. Hollings 38, N. H. James 90, H. W. Rishworth 93. In connection with the ladies' club the best scores in the medal handicap were:—Miss G. Booth 75, Mrs av, H. Booth 79, Miss D. Booth 79, Miss. Eobie son 81, Miss Payton 81.
