Myers, who is standing as an independent Liberal at the Aucltland Bast by-election, will probably Laao aL loast two opponents —one in Mr wuiiam ■Rifh'irdson a prohibitionist and protectionfst a who contested the Beat at last Section against the late member, and the other, a labour candidate, who will proha.bly he selected at a meeting that has been convened for next Monday night. Tho labour partv will have the assistance of Messrs J. McCullough (labour represcntativeon the Arbitration Court), D. McLaren, M.X . for Wellington East, and T. E. Taylor, M.l. for Christchurch North, who arrives on Sunday, while the Hon. J. Barr, has b“cn telegraphed for, and will piobably visit the city. -
The Wellington Trades and Labour Council has voted £lO towards the expenses of the labour candidate.
